What to Expect in My Program

If you’re an LMSW working full-time, you’ll typically meet with me for 4 hours of supervision each month — all online via Zoom. That’s two 2-hour group sessions per month, making it easy to fit into a busy schedule. You can complete all 100 supervision hours remotely from anywhere in Texas or Arkansas.

Supervision takes at least 24 months — there’s no shortcut to finishing it faster. To get your LCSW, you need to complete 100 hours of supervision and 3,000 work hours.

👉 Heads up: Any months or hours you worked before starting supervision don’t count — so the sooner you begin, the better!

Good news — there’s no longer a maximum time limit to finish supervision. If you’re working full-time (at least 30 hours/week), you can expect to finish in about 24 months. You need to attend at least 1 hour of supervision each month for that month to count toward your total.

If you’re working part-time, you can still make it work! You can attend 1–3 hours of supervision monthly and extend the process to 3–5 years. In my experience, most people find that finishing in 24–30 months is the sweet spot for success.

I personally started with group sessions when I was getting licensed, then transitioned to individual supervision — and honestly, the diverse feedback from group settings was a game-changer for me. That’s why my program is designed with a group-first approach — it helps you grow as a clinician while building confidence and connection with others on the same path.

💡 Texas doesn’t require a specific ratio of individual to group sessions. Arkansas has similar flexibility, but if you plan to work in another state, check their specific requirements.

Is Your Job Clinical Enough for Supervision?

I get this question a lot. Here’s the deal: If you’re spending at least four hours per week assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health or substance use issues using DSM-5-TR criteria — you’re probably good to go.

Don’t stress too much about making formal diagnoses. In many settings, doctors, psychiatrists, or other licensed mental health pros handle the official diagnosing. If you’re using diagnostic tools and clinical judgment in your work, that usually meets the requirement.

If you’re working directly with clients or patients and using your clinical skills, you likely meet the criteria.

What’s a Typical Group Session Like?

Our group sessions are a mix of:
✅ Case presentations
✅ Ethical discussions
✅ DSM-5-TR review
✅ Exploring different therapy modalities

We’ll focus on helping you grow as a clinician while getting you ready for the LCSW exam. I also mix in some self development catered to YOU, the healer, and business skills — because understanding human behavior AND how to run a practice sets you up for long-term success.

Getting Started

I offer a free “Intro to Supervision” session one Saturday per month from 11-11:30 am CST. This is a no-pressure way for us to see if we’re a good fit. Join my next session by registering at the link below. This is a group format, so multiple people maybe in the same group. A link for the session will be sent 24 hours before the session.

Once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll complete a:

  • Supervision agreement

  • Clinical supervision plan

I’ll also give you a template for a letter that someone at your job will need to sign — it just confirms that you’re doing supervision outside of work. You don’t need to submit anything to the board until after you finish supervision and pass the LCSW exam.

Cost and Structure

My program is $400/month for 4 hours of supervision ($100/hour). That’s two 2-hour sessions per month, which sets you up to finish in about 25 months.

💼 Pro tip: Some employers will cover your supervision costs — so it’s worth asking!

We’ll kick things off with an individual session so we can get to know each other better. After that, individual sessions are available on an as-needed basis at the same rate of $100/hour.

Tracking Your Hours

To keep things organized, I recommend setting up a binder or a digital folder for all your supervision documents. My scheduling software will also track your hours and months so you’ll always know where you stand.

If you’ve done any supervision in the past and have a signed verification form, that time might count toward your requirements in Texas or Arkansas — even if it was out of state.
